As a SWFL fine art photographer, I am passionate about creating imagery that explores deeper emotional and societal themes. This past March, I had the honor of having my photograph “Expectations” accepted into the Femina 2025 Online Art Exhibition. Even more meaningful, the exhibition was featured in celebration of International Women’s Day, a time dedicated to honoring the voices, resilience, and creativity of women worldwide.
Femina 2025 brought together women artists from around the globe, highlighting diverse perspectives on womanhood, strength, identity, and resilience. To be part of this international showcase was not only humbling, but also deeply inspiring.
My submitted piece, “Expectations,” is a visual exploration of the weight of materialism and societal pressures. In the image, jewels represent the glittering promises of success and the external demands placed upon us. Yet, rather than signifying triumph, they weigh heavily—mirroring the burden of constantly striving to meet standards that may not reflect our own truth. The subject’s posture conveys defeat and exhaustion, a quiet question lingering: What is the true value of wealth and conformity?
For me, Expectations is not just about adornment or status, but about the silent costs of living beneath the weight of what society dictates. It is a reminder that worth should never be measured by materialism or outside judgment, but by authenticity, inner strength, and self-acceptance.
Being included in Femina 2025 on such an important occasion reaffirmed why I create: to start conversations, to reflect our shared struggles, and to celebrate the resilience within us all.
